Each Trudy’s location has a distinctive name, like Trudy’s North Star, Texas Star, and South Star. The Dripping Springs location – Trudy’s fourth – is called Trudy’s Four Star, and is located at Highway 290 West and Four Star Boulevard (across from the Belterra entrance).
Last year’s grand opening on All Saints Day may not be mere coincidence. Surely, the Tex-Mex food & spirits saints were all smiling on Dripping Springs when Trudy’s owner, Gary Truesdell, decided to build the Four Star location here. Locals rejoiced and Trudy’s Four Star has slowly but surely been making its mark in the community ever since.
One of the reasons for that is events manager Christian Zertuche. Christian is an event planner’s event planner. He loves his job, and it shows! Just ask any of the hundreds of people who have already enjoyed events at Trudy’s Four Star, like rehearsal dinners, anniversary parties, birthdays, and banquets.
As the restaurant prepares to celebrate its 1st anniversary, Trudy’s Four Star has opened a private Rooftop Terrace that is available 7 days a week for these events. The Rooftop Terrace affords guests a great view of Hill Country sunsets to the west and south, and there is no rental fee for the space – the only rooftop party space of its kind around Dripping Springs. Zertuche says Trudy’s caters the Rooftop Events, and there is also a cash bar service available during private events.
To celebrate their 1st anniversary in Dripping Springs, Trudy’s Four Star and Zertuche invite the public – kids, too! – to the Rooftop Terrace for an Open House “Happy HourS”, from 5pm-10pm, on Saturday, November 3rd. Featured will be live acoustic music by popular local guitarist Tommy Mojica, and a complimentary 5-flavors salsa bar with chips & queso. A cash bar will also be available.
Zertuche hopes to meet as many locals as possible, and learn more about the kinds of events they would like to host. Here’s more about event planner Christian Z. and Trudy’s Four Star, in Zertuche’s own words:
WHAT’S YOUR AGE, HOMETOWN, AND BACKGROUND?
I am 32 years old, from Houston, Texas. I have worked in the Restaurant and Customer Service Industry for 14 years. I am also a licensed Massage Therapist and Esthetician.
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO AUSTIN, AND TO DRIPPING SPRINGS? HOW DO YOU LIKE IT HERE?
I originally moved here with a friend who was attending St. Edwards and needed a roomate to share expenses. I had been to visit Austin a few times and really loved it, so I immediately signed up to come with her.
A year after I moved here, I started working as a server at Trudy’s in the Brodie Oaks shopping center. This was by far the coolest restaurant I ever work. It closed down 2 months later and we opened Trudy’s on Little Texas Lane. I worked there for a just over a year and worked my way up to the management training program.
Personal reasons took me back to Houston for a little while, but I returned a little over a year later and wen back to work for Trudy’s at the North Star location and eventually went back into the manager program. A year and a half after starting back at Trudy’s, the wait was over and Trudy’s Four Star was ready to be opened.
I was very excited to come work out here, eventhough I had to drive from Cedar Park everyday. I eventually moved to South Austin and when the time is right, I want to move to Dripping Springs. I love it out here!
I am the Events Manager for Trudy’s Four Star location. We are excited to be celebrating our 1st anniversary as well as Trudy’s 35th anniversary. On Saturday evening, Nov 3rd, we will open the private Rooftop Terrace to the public for an “Open House” celebration from 5pm – 10pm. We want to invite everyone to celebrate with us, as well as show off our wonderful Rooftop space. We will have a complimentary Salsa Bar, with chips, queso, and 5 salsas. Our cash bar will also be open.
TELL US MORE ABOUT THE ROOFTOP TERRACE
Our Rooftop Terrace is our big thing right now. It is a private event space with great views of the Texas Hill Country and amazing sunsets. Its a great space for a private event, with a capacity of up to 200 guests, and is available 7 days a week! So, small or large, casual or fancy, kids or adults – our Rooftop Terrace space can accommodate all of that. It’s exciting!
DOESN’T TRUDY’S ALSO SERVE AS A SORT OF LOCAL “SPORTS BAR” ON NFL AND U-T GAME DAYS?
I wouldn’t say a true “Sports Bar,” but we are definitely a sports-friendly restaurant! We have the NFL Sunday Ticket on monitors, so all the games can be seen throughout the restaurant. We also feature the UT games with sound, from the Longhorn Network. That has been really popular. We also had the Olympics on every television, plus, professional Golf, Tennis…we show it all throughout the year.
WHEN YOU OPENED A YEAR AGO, THE MENU WAS DIFFERENT FROM THE WELL-KNOWN TRUDY’S MENU OFFERED AT OTHER LOCATIONS. WHY, AND WHY HAS IT CHANGED SINCE?
We wanted to try something new when we first opened Four Star, but we learned that the other Trudy’s locations are popular for a reason – the menu! We would like everyone to know around Dripping Springs, that we are now back to the authentic Trudy’s menu, so come out and get all your Trudy’s favorites – Stuffed Avocado, Migas…We also serve our popular Tex-Mex breakfast menu on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, from 9am – 4pm. We are Trudy’s!
WHAT’S YOUR GOAL FOR YOUR 2ND YEAR IN DRIPPING SPRINGS?
I want to have more events on the rooftop! There are some great views and its the perfect party place. we are working on some ideas for different events, possibly with entertainment…stay tuned!
