Dogs aren’t the only animal suitable to help with therapy anymore.
Therapy dogs are a familiar scene when it comes to counseling, but horses are gentle giants and can be just as therapeutic to humans.
Thousand Hearts Horse, an organization in Dripping Springs, is rescuing horses to turn around and help people with therapy.
Owner Diane Hunt explained why the horse is a great animal for therapy.
“They’re just sweet and they’re soft and they’re gentle. One thing about horses is they are very honest. They do respond to you and how you’re approaching them,” Hunt said.
Thousand Hearts Horse also works to educate people about horses through workshops and clinics.
